Hormone Therapy in Tallahassee, FL

PhySlim Tallahassee offers hormone therapy for men and women, started only after labs and a full evaluation. Dr. Rick Spurlock, MD, sees hormone patients in Tallahassee on Wednesdays.

Who we treat

  • Men: symptoms of low testosterone — fatigue, low libido, loss of strength, weight gain, poor sleep — confirmed with labs.
  • Women: perimenopause and menopause symptoms — hot flashes, night sweats, sleep and mood changes, low libido — treated with estradiol, progesterone and, when appropriate, testosterone.

How it works

  1. Initial hormone lab panel ($250). A sex-specific panel drawn before your consultation.
  2. Consultation. Symptoms, history and labs reviewed together. If therapy is appropriate, you get a written plan — cream, gel or injection.
  3. Monitoring. Follow-up labs at set intervals: hematocrit, PSA and estradiol for men on testosterone; symptom and bleeding review for women. We record when you last dosed so lab timing is interpreted correctly.
  4. Adjustments. Dose changes are based on symptoms and labs together, not labs alone.

Safety first

Testosterone raises red blood cell counts, so we hold or adjust therapy when hematocrit is too high. Women with a uterus who take estrogen need progesterone. Before starting, we screen for a history of blood clots, breast and prostate cancer, and pregnancy plans.
