Dr. Rick Spurlock is a board-certified emergency medicine physician who has practiced emergency medicine since 2007 and founded PhySlim in 2013. He trained at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and completed his residency at Emory University.

Compounded tirzepatide is available at our PhySlim South clinic on Lower Fayetteville Road, prescribed and monitored by our medical team. Tirzepatide is a prescription medication — it requires an in-person evaluation before we can determine whether it's appropriate for you, and it isn't right for everyone. We'll review your health history, current medications, and goals before anything is prescribed.
PhySlim South accepts walk-ins during regular hours for follow-up visits. New patients should book a consultation, since the first visit includes a full evaluation and takes longer.
Both contain the same active ingredient. Brand-name products are FDA-approved; compounded medications are prepared by a licensed pharmacy and are not FDA-approved, though the pharmacies themselves are state-licensed and regulated. We'll walk you through the trade-offs — cost, supply, and what the evidence does and doesn't show — so you can decide with full information rather than a sales pitch.
